Last week, we met with client team members to suggest ways they could improve their internal communication channels.
Our number one suggestion? Reduce the word count for every single piece of content.
Naturally, client team members wanted more precision. What’s the right count for a senior leader blog? How about a newsletter digest article? Intranet content?
We were happy to throw out some numbers, but our key point was that there’s no absolute right answer (287!)—it depends on the needs of your employees.
But in general, employees are more time-pressed than ever. So the real question is: How brief can you be?
Think back to . . . say, 2019. (Seems like a long time ago, doesn’t it?) Just two years ago, you could justify a 500-word article.
Today? It’s a book.
