Alison Davis, CEO of Davis & Company, has written an article entitled, "Make Your Case: Use research to help convince your CEO of the value of communication," in the May/June issue of Communication World Magazine, the publication of the International Association of Business Communicators. She was also interviewed about the article for the Communication World website.
One piece of advice from the article is to use facts when making your case. "Remember, CEO's and other leaders are used to making fact-based decisions, so they're more likely to take your advice if you have data to back it up," she writes.
Another tip? Benchmark communication practices from companies the CEO admires. "The idea is simple," writes Alison. "By identifying one or more organizations your CEO admires and finding our how they approach senior leader communication, you can make the case for improving your own efforts."
